I specifically did not want to hook this Samsung to cable because there is no room on the counter for a cable box. But this Samsung tv turned out to have a terrible picture quality for over the air broadcast reception. I tried three different antennas with it, including a $58 powered model, and nothing worked. So this tv might be ok for use with cable or satellite (I didn't try so I have no idea) but it produces a really terrible picture if you try to use it with an antenna. I've already returned it to Amazon for a refund. The representative cancelled my order so I can reorder for a 2-day shipping. I think she should be able to make the change without me cancelling and had to reorder. I've had 2-samsungs lcd and they are great however, think twice before cancelling and reordering an item. You will loose the price as well as your shipping que...especially during the holidays. I'm heading outside Amazon to repurchase the television since they told me that it will not arrive until 1-3 months. I'm upset, especially being a customer for so many years. The set replaced a smaller, older white Sony. The Sony had an visually inobtrusive white cord. The Samsung's black power cord looks terrible.
